Support and Guidance for Therapists at Every Stage
At Second Wave Counseling, our clinical supervision and consultation services provide therapists with a supportive space to deepen their skills, reflect on their work, and grow with confidence—no matter where they are in their professional journey.
For Pre-Licensed Clinicians
Shaping your clinical voice, through time, reflection, and real experience.
Clinical supervision is a dedicated, two-year experience designed to support your growth as a thoughtful, confident, and ethical clinician. It goes far beyond case consultation, this is a space where your clinical voice is shaped, your instincts are strengthened, and your identity as a therapist begins to take form over time.
Whether you’re working toward your LCSW or seeking deeper support in your work, this extended supervision experience allows for meaningful development that can’t happen in short-term or surface-level guidance. Through consistent, relational supervision, you’ll build confidence grounded in ethical care, lived experience, and personal reflection.
At Second Wave Counseling, we view supervision as a long-term investment in you. Over the course of two years, we create space to slow down, stay curious, and work through both the stuck points and moments of clarity, so you’re not navigating the complexity of this work alone.
My Approach to Supervision
I’ve worked direct care, behind the scenes, as an in-patient therapist and out-patient therapist, once could say, I’ve got some experience. I’ve supervised clinicians at every level, from interns to fully licensed staff. With over eight years of supervisory experience, I offer an approach that is collaborative, honest, and rooted in curiosity.
I believe supervision works best when it centers:
Trauma informed care that acknowledges how systems, identities, and histories show up in the room
Harm reduction as a guiding frame that respects autonomy and meets clients where they are
Systems-oriented thinking that holds the wider context of families, institutions, and environments
Neurodivergent affirming practice that moves away from “fixing” and toward understanding
We’ll explore the clinical, the practical, and the emotional layers of this work. From countertransference to burnout to joy, all of it belongs here.
What to Expect: From LMSW to LCSW
Supervision can be held weekly or biweekly, currently only accepting individual supervises. I supervise LMSWs pursuing their LCSW and also offer consultation for fully licensed clinicians looking to feel more grounded in their practice.
Together we’ll focus on:
Building confidence in clinical judgment
Strengthening your identity as a therapist
Integrating theory into practice in ways that make sense
Honoring both client needs and your own boundaries
If you’re looking for a space to feel seen and sharpen your clinical lens, I’d love to connect.
“Working with Carla has been such a valuable experience. What I appreciate most is how individualistic and thoughtful she is—she truly considers each family system with depth and care. She encourages reflection on your internal world and how it shows up in clinical work, which has helped me grow as a clinician. Her broad experience across settings brings layered insight and practical guidance to every consultation.”

Answers to Help You Get Started
Starting therapy often comes with questions, and we’re here to make the process feel clear and approachable. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about individual therapy and what you can expect.
-
Clinical consultation is a collaborative space to explore cases, strengthen clinical decision-making, and gain support around challenges in your work—without the formal requirements of supervision.
-
Consultation is ideal for licensed clinicians, associates, or professionals seeking additional support, fresh perspective, or deeper reflection on their clinical work.
-
Unlike supervision, consultation does not count toward licensure hours. It’s a more flexible, insight-driven space focused on growth, reflection, and support rather than formal evaluation.
-
Anything from specific client cases and ethical questions to burnout, countertransference, or feeling stuck in your work. This space is designed to meet you where you are.
-
That depends on your needs. Some clinicians attend regularly for ongoing support, while others book sessions as needed during more complex or challenging periods.
